Orthopaedics and traumatology cover the whole musculoskeletal system: bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. People come after a fall or a sports injury, but just as often because of everyday wear: a knee that hurts going downstairs, a shoulder that will not lift the arm, a back that tightens up at work. The aim is the same either way, to name the problem and get you moving again.
The centre has X-ray and ultrasound on site, so the consultation and the imaging can often happen on the same day. The orthopaedic surgeon works alongside our physiotherapists, which means your rehabilitation plan comes out of the same appointment. For osteoarthritis and other wear-related conditions we also offer regenerative treatments such as intra-articular hyaluronic acid and monocyte therapy. Appointments are booked in advance and we work with more than 40 private health insurers.

- Injuries and musculoskeletal pain. Sprains, muscle tears, tendinitis, osteoarthritis, low back and neck pain. We start with an examination and, where useful, an X-ray or ultrasound scan.
- Fracture follow-up. Immobilisation, check-ups to confirm the bone is healing as it should, and guidance on when to start moving again.
- Joint and tendon injections. Medication delivered straight into the affected joint or tendon to bring down pain and inflammation in one specific area.
- Intra-articular hyaluronic acid. A treatment for osteoarthritis: it improves lubrication inside the joint, eases pain and helps restore movement.
- Monocyte therapy. Immune cells drawn from your own blood are applied to stimulate the regeneration of joint and muscle tissue.
- Rehabilitation planning. We prescribe the physiotherapy you need and follow it up with the centre's team until function comes back.
- Surgical planning. When surgery is the right option, the case is studied in detail and we go through the procedure, the risks and the recovery time before anything is decided.

When should I see an orthopaedic doctor and when a physiotherapist?
Start with the orthopaedic doctor if the pain follows a knock or a fall, if the joint swells or locks, or if it has lasted more than two or three weeks: the injury needs a name first, from the examination and, where useful, an X-ray or ultrasound scan. Once that is clear, the same doctor prescribes the physiotherapy and follows it up with the centre's physiotherapists.
What is a hyaluronic acid injection?
It is a treatment for osteoarthritis: hyaluronic acid is delivered straight into the joint to improve lubrication, ease pain and help restore movement. It is done in the consulting room, and the doctor first checks, with the examination and the imaging, whether it is the right option in your case.
Can I have the X-ray on the same day as my appointment in Palafrugell?
