Gynaecology and Obstetrics
Gynaecology and obstetrics in Palafrugell: routine check-ups, smear tests, scans, pregnancy care and contraception.

Gynaecology and Obstetrics
Gynaecology follows women’s health at every stage: the first appointment, the fertile years, pregnancy and the menopause. We carry out routine check-ups with smear tests and scans, and see patients for painful or irregular periods, discomfort, infections or urine leakage.
Gynaecological and obstetric scans and mammograms are done in the same building, so the appointment and the test can often be dealt with in a short space of time. Consultations are by appointment, with room to ask whatever you need. We are on Plaça de Catalunya in Palafrugell and work with more than 40 health insurers.

Frequently asked questions about Gynaecology and Obstetrics
How often should I have a gynaecological check-up?
The interval is set by the gynaecologist according to your age, your history and the results of previous tests; every one or two years is the most usual. At the appointment itself you agree when the next one is due and what it will include.
Can I have my smear test on the same day as the check-up?
Yes, the smear is taken during the check-up, so there is no need for a second visit. Try not to book it while you are on your period, and avoid vaginal creams and intercourse for the previous 48 hours so the sample can be read properly.
Where will my pregnancy scans and mammogram be done?
At the same centre on Plaça de Catalunya in Palafrugell: gynaecological and obstetric scans and mammograms are done here, often on the day of the appointment itself. If you are pregnant, bring your maternity notes and previous scan reports.
