Radiology
X-rays, mammograms, ultrasound scans and Doppler studies on digital equipment, with a radiologist's report.

Radiology
Radiology is the centre's diagnostic imaging service. We take X-rays, mammograms, ultrasound scans and Doppler studies on digital equipment, so images are available straight away and the radiologist can assess them the same day. Reports are signed by Dr Jordi Teruel, who has run the radiology unit since the centre opened, and Dr Xavier Targa, an ultrasound specialist.
We see our own patients and also referrals from other medical teams in the area. You need an appointment and the referral from the doctor requesting the test. We work with more than forty health insurers: tell us yours when you call and we will confirm your cover.
Services in this specialty: Radiology
- Digital X-ray. Chest, abdominal, spine and limb X-rays. The first-line test for confirming fractures, checking the lungs and following up bone injuries.
- Mammography. Breast imaging for early detection and for investigating lumps or discomfort. When needed, we add a breast ultrasound during the same visit.
- Abdominal and urological ultrasound. Scans of the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, and of the kidneys, bladder and prostate.
- Thyroid and breast ultrasound. Assessment of thyroid nodules and changes, plus a detailed look at breast tissue.
- Musculoskeletal and testicular ultrasound. Imaging of muscles, tendons and soft tissue for sports injuries or persistent pain, plus testicular studies.
- Doppler ultrasound. Blood-flow studies to detect venous insufficiency, thrombosis and arterial changes, including Doppler of the neck arteries that supply the brain.
- Ultrasound-guided puncture and biopsy. Tissue or fluid samples taken under ultrasound guidance to investigate suspicious lesions, and drainage of fluid collections.
- Panoramic X-ray and dental CT. Panoramic X-ray of the whole mouth and 3D imaging to plan implants and dental treatment.
- Full-length X-ray. A single full-length X-ray of the spine or legs, used to measure curvature and leg-length differences.

Bring the referral, your insurance card and any previous X-rays or reports for the same area. Some ultrasound scans need preparation — fasting, or drinking water beforehand — and we will tell you when you book. Call 972 30 65 65 or request an appointment through the contact form.
Covered by most health insurers. Check yours on the list of insurers.

Frequently asked questions about Radiology
Do I need a referral for an X-ray or an ultrasound scan?
Yes: any imaging test needs the referral from the doctor requesting it, and an appointment is always required. Bring your insurance card too, along with any previous X-rays or reports for the same area.
Can I have a scan in Palafrugell if another doctor requested it?
Yes. We accept referrals from other medical teams in the area, not only from our own doctors. Call 972 30 65 65 to book and tell us which insurer you have: we work with more than forty companies and will confirm your cover.
When will I get the report?
Because our equipment is digital, the images are available straight away and the radiologist can assess them the same day. The radiologist signs the report and you collect it at the centre to take back to the doctor who requested the test.
